Transformers: The Last Knight Deluxe Mission to Cybertron Toys R Us Exclusive Optimus Prime 2-Pack
Transformers: The Last Knight Toy Reviews
Hasbro dug deep into the archives for this set. It includes the Dark of the Moon Deluxe Optimus Prime and the 2007 Movie Protoform Optimus Prime molds.
Optimus Prime (DOTM)
This toy is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with the Transformers: The Last Knight toyline. It is technically a repaint, but what they did is take the original deco and remove some paint apps and simplify others. The flames on his doors and hood have been simplified and the gold color that looked so great has been removed from his hood completely. They removed the flames from the roof of his cab. In robot mode they removed the silver paint apps from his thighs. So they repainted it to be inferior to the original. Nice job Hasbro. I think his gray plastic is a little darker also. This is not a terrible mold, but is not great either. You can read my review of the Age of Extinction Silver Knight version of this mold here.
Cybertron Optimus Prime (2007 Movie)
This was originally Protoform Optimus Prime from the 2007 movie. The idea was this was how they he and the Autobot traveled through space to get to Earth. In Transformers: The Last Knight Optimus Prime takes a form similar to this, hence the reuse of the mold. It’s not a bad paint job, but the toy was designed to include Optimus Primes windows, which were painted blue. They are not painted blue on this version, so he doesn’t look as much like Optimus Prime as he could. Still, it’s not terrible looking, and we haven’t seen the mold in a long time. Pity we can’t same that about so many other toys in this line.
Overall: It’s not a bad set, especially if you need the molds, but it isn’t anything special. For completists only.
