Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015) Activator Combiners Wave 1 (Bumblebee with Stuntwing, Strongarm with Trickout)
Calling these guys combiners is a bit of a stretch. They are more like a cross between G1 Powermasters and Targetmasters, There partner activates their transformation and then turns into a gun. There is a button that can activate transformation if you don’t want to attach the toy. They really aren’t combiners in any normal sense. Also, they will only partially transform when the partner is attached or the button pressed, so it’s an interesting gimmick, but far from perfect.
Bumblebee & Stuntwing
Bumblebee is pretty cool. The car mode just needed a few black stripes, which of course Hasbro didn’t bother to put on him. You need to manually flip out his feet after the spring loaded transformation.
Strongarm & Trickout
Strongarm actually has halfway decent paint apps. Her legs need to be transformed manually, making her less of an auto transformation than Bumblebee. I thing Trickout is the better of the two partners. He looks great in robot and gun modes. His truck mode is a bit off with the plate in front, but not bad.
Overall: While they aren’t awful, they certainly shouldn’t be called combiners. If you’ve getting one, I’d go with Bumblebee.
