Well, they certainly came up with a nice looking box and slip cover.

The SDCC version of Devastator differs in paint apps and stickers.  The only mold change is a new head.  The most obvious paint difference is the purple chrome, which unfortunately does not extend to the gun, which should have also been chromed.  It looks pretty sharp, but I’m getting a little tired of Hasbro intentionally releasing substandard toys and then doing the proper paint job only on overpriced exclusive and platinum sets.  Either do the toy right or don’t do it at all.  In the pics below the red circles note the paint changes.  Should be pretty obvious.  The SDCC version is definitely the better of the two as it has the added paint apps and chrome.  Hasbro really should have included the individual guns the Japanese version is coming with.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
