Transformers Artifact of the Week: Dark of the Moon Trading Card Set
I haven’t done a Transformers Artifact of the Week in a while, so I thought I’d do two. (Click here for the Transformers Optimum Collection Trading Card Set.)
The Transformers Dark of the Moon Trading card set by FMC is a bit of a mystery. Firstly, the cards have a lot of designs in common with the Enterplay Dark of the Moon Dog Tags stickers and Tattoos that did come out in 2011. So, I’m unsure of the relationship between Enterplay and FMC. Secondly, these cards were announced way back around when Dark of the Moon came out in 2011. However, they never materialized until early this year when online retailers t the cards in at incredible markdowns (cases normally $1700 were being blown out at $100). So, I really don’t know all that much about the origin of these cards. I’d love to know more, but I can’t seem to find any info online about this.
The basic set is broken up into nineteen separately numbered subsets. There are five additional insert (chase) sets. The really unfortunate thing is that the backs of these cards. There are no character bios, no story info, no power rankings, nothing. Most just have more art or nothing of any significance.
These cards are nowhere near as high quality as the Optimum Collection cards. Many have scuffing on the back edges, and they aren’t glossy.
Not much else to say about these. Pictures and notes are below.
