I am going to refrain from comparisons between this movie and the original movie.  Reason being?  They are so different that they aren’t really comparable.  Essentially they took the character names, the title organization, and the three breasted girl and made the rest up.

As an action movie, Total Recall succeeds.  It is virtually one long action sequence from the moment Quaid goes to Recall until the movie is over, and the action is really well done.

However, that’s really all there is.  The story is slow in the beginning, and then the action starts and essentially continues until the end of the film.

Action fans will love it, but fans of the original movie probably won’t.
