Well, after my picks went 3-1 in the first round, I only went 2-2 in the second round. Really, though, who could have possibly imagined that both the Saints and Packers, the two best teams in the NFC (no offense to the 49ers) would both be eliminated.
Giants at 49ers – This is a hard game to pick. Both teams are coming off games that have to be considered huge upsets. Few could have foreseen the Giants winning in Green Bay, and I certainly didn’t think the 49ers had the offense to hang with New Orleans, to say nothing of making it a shoot out in the closing minutes. I have to give this one to the home team though. I think the 49ers defense is going to give Eli Manning fits, because the running game won’t be able to do much at all against them. Could be another shootout like the 49ers had against the Saints, but San Francisco pulls it off.
Ravens at Patriots – Let’s face it. The Ravens defense isn’t what it used to be. They are getting older. The only way they can hope to win is to put Tom Brady on his backside. You can’t double team Welker, Hernandez, and Gronkowski, and even if you could, you still have a Super Bowl MVP in Deion Branch who can burn you like he did the Broncos last week. As far as the Ravens offense goes, they just aren’t that good. They may score a few more points than Denver did, but they can’t possibly outscore Brady. Patriots win, probably not by 35 like last week, but still decisively.
