Just a little while ago, pictures were released of Botcon 2012 box set Metalhawk. As I predicted in Blog #55, they used the Thunderwing body with a new human looking head. I don’t have my G1 Metalhawk handy, but the face looks like a pretty good likeness of his original Pretender shell. The coloring is also perfect. Metalhawk is a personal favorite of mine. When I first started collecting the Japanese toys, he was one of the first two major pieces I picked up. I purchased him along with a Godmaster Ginrai gift set at Botcon 1997. While Tracks is still the best of the set, I give Metalhawk a grade of A-. I’d give him an A, but the fact remains, he needs a Pretender shell. Too bad they wasted time on that stupid bandana for Soundwave instead of a Pretender shell for Metalhawk. Maybe one of the third party companies will make a shell for him. That would be awesome.
