Blog #2895: Toy Review: Transformers Generations Age of the Primes Deluxe Class Combaticon Vortex

Transformers Generations Age of the Primes Deluxe Class Combaticon Vortex

Vortex

Vehicle Mode: Vortex is awesome! I cannot stress how fantastic he looks. He is almost perfect. If he had landing gear he would be perfect. I do not understand how they couldn’t give him landing gear, even if they were removable. There are multiple ways to configure his weapons. I can’t find his instructions at the moment to check, but I believe the first two ways above are in his instructions. I would never choose to the put the guns on with the pegs pointing out like that, because it’s stupid, so I assume that was how it showed in the instructions. The best looking, and not in his instructions, is the third configuration above with both guns on his chin and the pegs pointing in. That should have been the official way to do it in his instructions. I think, though I can’t swear it, that the configuration with one gun on the right side of his nose is a misinterpretation of the original animation. Let me show you what I mean.

I looked at this pic quickly, and I can see where someone might think that the gun is off center, but I think that’s an optical illusion. The gun is in the center, just as it is on the G1 toy. I’m thinking that might be the reason for the official gun position being on the side of the nose.

Robot Mode: Vortex looks fantastic in robot mode. His head sculpt is perfect. I love his forearm guns.

Overall: Vortex is an absolute must have.

Thanks for reading!

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
