Planet X Kadmos and Nemeios (Transformers G1 Star Saber and Victory Leo, Victory Saber)

Saber

Saber is the weakest part of this set. Robot mode is okay, but for his jet mode, they took the piece from Star Saber’s chest, unfolded it into a robot and then added just enough to make it sort of look like a jet. It’s more like a box with backwards wings they stuck a nose and cockpit on.

Star Saber

Vehicle Mode: I believe this is meant to be based on IDW Star Saber. As I have said before, IDW stands for It Don’t Work, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. He looks amazing in jet mode. Colors and paint apps are perfect. He has lots of molded details. A departure from the G1, certainly, but he still has a kick ass jet mode.

Robot Mode: In robot mode Star Saber looks pretty great, but his head seems a hair small. Also his head looks a little thin as if it was squashed bit from the sides. Not terrible, but noticeable.

Victory Leo

Beast Mode: Victory Leo looks fantastic in lion mode. I love the look of his lion head and all the god paint. He looks great with all the guns on his back.

Vehicle Mode: I really like Victory Leo’s jet mode. It’s basically a box with wings, but his folded up feet on the front suggest dual cockpits at least.

Robot Mode: In robot mode Victory Leo looks awesome. I love his head sculpt and all the gold paint.

Victory Saber

Vehicle Mode: I have to admit, I think Victor Saber’s combined vehicle mode is pretty awesome. It is better looking that the G1, and that’s really hard to pull off.

Robot Mode: Victory Saber is a departure from the G1 toy, but I do love the lion head on his chest. He really looks fantastic. My only complaint is the way Victory Leo’s arms just have off his shoulders. They really don’t add much. I feel like he might look better on his back.

Overall: While this is not a G1 Victory Saber, it is a pretty great looking toy, though a bit pricey. If you can find a deal, he’s worth picking up.
