Blog #2705: Toy Review: New Age Toys Legendary Heroes Asmodeus, Abadon, Berial (Transformers G1 Insecticons, Bombshell, Kickback, Shrapnel)

New Age Toys Legendary Heroes Asmodeus, Abadon, Berial (Transformers G1 Insecticons, Bombshell, Kickback, Shrapnel)

I really wanted a set of these Insecticons, but they were more expensive than I thought they were worth. By chance, I found this set at a con. The seller had bought both the opaque and translucent sets and swapped the arms and legs to make a more G1 toy accurate set with translucent chests and this set that I bought at a great price. So these are Frankensteined, they have the opaque bodies and translucent arms. Normally I wouldn’t buy something like this, but it was cheap. Decepticon logos were obviously added by the original owner.

Bombshell

Bombshell looks great. I love the silver paint on his head and chest. His head sculpt looks great.

Kickback

Kickback’s front legs look a little short, but other than that, he looks great.

Shrapnel

Shrapnel looks great. Though having the translucent pinchers makes his face visible in insect mode. I’m not sure why they did clear parts for the silver parts on the colored one. Translucent gray would have looked better.

Overall: Cool, but way overpriced, unless you can find a deal.

Thanks for reading!

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
