Raiden is AWESOME! He is amazing. I love his head sculpt and his colors are perfect. He does have one flaw. You’ll notice I have his hands open in the first photo above. The joints in his fingers do not have enough tension to keep his fist closed. If you put his hands at his sides balled in fists, they partially open, like he is cupping his hands. For such an amazing toy to have such an easily recognizable and fixable flaw really bugs the shit out of me. As to how he compares to Masterpiece Raiden…

Here we have them side by side. Moon Studios Raiden is much cleaner. The Masterpiece version looks like he has a pot belly. Ankle guns have lots of crap around then, while Moon Studios are perfect. I like toys that integrate their accessories, but the Masterpiece is seriously hampered by that. This photo makes them look like they are the same size. Here is a pick with them roughly in scale.

Moon Studios Raiden is about 20 inches tall, Takara/Hasbro’s is only 11 inches. In this case, size does matter.

Here you can see how both compare to the G1 toy. The Moon Studios version looks a lot more like the original than the Masterpiece.

Overall: I’m not sure exactly what I paid for Moon Studios Raiden. I got him at a con in a package deal with some other toys, but he’s available now online for less than $800. The retail price of the Masterpiece version is around $915 and the toy is just over half the size when combined. Moon Studios Raiden is the far superior toy. I highly recommend him.
