Blog #2638: Toy Review: Metagate Red Fantasy (Transformers Bumblebee Shatter)

Metagate Red Fantasy (Transformers Bumblebee Shatter)

Shatter

Car Mode: Shatter looks incredible. One of my favorite things from the movie was Shatter’s vehicle mode. She’s a 1971 Plymouth GTX, which is such a cool looking car. They put so much detail into her. The grill, the headlights, the roll cage, the die-cast engine, they are all amazing. I don’t normally take pictures from all angles in vehicle mode, but I had to for Shatter. Her paint apps are perfect.

Jet Mode: In jet mode Shatter looks great. Not quite as great as car mode, but really, really good. There are some parts round her fuselage behind the nose of the jet that have holes that make her look a little unfinished, but it’s not awful. It’s quite impressive that she can have such a perfect car mode and be this good in jet mode.

Robot Mode: Look at the detail on her face sculpt. Holy crap, that is amazing. Her instructions don’t show her gun. I’m guessing the cylinder that comes with her goes on the gun since it fits and doesn’t seem to go anywhere else. The instructions didn’t say. There are also slots for her rockets on her gun but that is also not in the instructions. In robot mode the molded detail and paints apps are incredible.

Overall: Shatter is a stunning toy. I didn’t love the Bumblebee movie. I thought it was a step down from the Michael Bay directed movies, but Shatter was an awesome character who had awesome alt modes, and this is the absolute best toy of her I imagine we will ever see. I can’t recommend her enough.

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
