Blog #2506: Toy Review: Transformers Generation One Guard City (Fire Chief, Fly-Up, Safety, Sparkride, Streetstar)

Transformers Generation One Guard City (Fire Chief, Fly-Up, Safety, Sparkride, Streetstar)

“Only the worthy find the grail.” – Robert Langdon, The Da Vinci Code

Yes, I know. I’ve used that quote before, and Primus willing, I will be using it again. “Worthy” is overstating it, but when you’ve acquired one of the Holy Grails on your want list I think you’re entitled to be a little dramatic. Without further ado, behold…

Guard City is one of the most sought Transformers ever made. Released in Japan in 1992, he is a repainted Defensor. Mine was missing a few stickers, but as luck would have it, I found reproduction stickers and Zabgoth applied the missing ones for me. However, I took the pics of the individual vehicle and robot modes before he applied the stickers.

Fire Chief

Fire Chief looks great. This color scheme really works on Hot Spot.

Fly-Up

Fly-Up looks great. Blades’ orange plastic is now blue, but he’s otherwise about the same.

Safety

Safety is very close to First Aid. His red plastic is now darker and his orange chest is now red.

Sparkride

Sparkride is nearly identical to Groove except for his stickers.

Streetstar

Streetstar is white than Streetwise, but they are very similar.

Guard City

Guard city has a lot of color similarities to G2 Defensor, but there are differences. He looks amazing. There are two photos of him with his guns, the first was taken before the repro stickers (as was the one with the gun) the second he has his new stickers. Here are a few more pics of the team.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
