Transformers Artifact of the Week: Transformers Generation One School Supplies by the Spindex Corporation

In 1985 the Spindex Corporation released a number of Transformers school supplies. I think I have them all, which is usually the thing I say right before I find out there are a dozen more things I didn’t even know existed, so I guess we’ll see.

First off we have the Pop-A-Point Pencils. The pencil is basically a hollow tube with plastic holders with led in them. The idea being, when you’re used up the lead you pull out the plastic tip, push it in the back and pop out another lead. These came two on a card, but they also came individually in a counter top display. I only know that because I picked this up at Botcon this past summer.

This countertop display tube is really yellowed, but otherwise in great shape. I’ve never seen this before, probably much rarer than the pencils themselves.

Next we have the Pop-A-Point Crayons. Same principal as the pencils but with different color crayons.

Picture above is the Optimus Prime pencil sharper, combination pencil sharper, pencil, and pencil topper sets of Optimus Prime and Megatron, a two pack of pencil toppers, and a package of pencils.

Eraser 2-packs of Optimus Prime and Megatron. I have seen pics of variant card backs, but these are the only ones I have.

There were four figural erasers, Optimus Prime, Prowl, Megatron, and Soundwave. I do not know if variants exist of Megatron and Prowl on the correct color cards.

Lastly we have the school study kit including a pencil pouch, ruler, pencil sharpener, and eraser. The ruler is a shorter version of the action ruler which has lenticular shifting pictures on it
