Blog #2479: Toy Review: Fans Hobby Bossman (Third Party Transformers G1 Boss)

Fans Hobby Bossman (Third Party Transformers G1 Boss)

Headmaster

Fans Hobby took a page out of Hasbro’s book making a toy that is not a Headmaster a Headmaster. As such, I don’t think they gave him a name.

Bossman (AKA Boss)

Vehicle Mode: Bossman is based on G1 Turbomaster Boss. Boss looks fantastic. The base mold is the same car mold Fans Hobby has used to make many Autobot cars including Minerva and Goshooter. He’s had the spoiler with missiles added. He has an accessory that gives the front of the car Boss’s nose cannon. It is removable and looks like a regular car. I forgot to take a picture of him without it. He has the G1 accurate green and white striping on the sides. G1 Boss is more of a futuristic racecar as opposed to a two door sedan, but I doubt it would have been worth it to them to make a whole new mold for an obscure (in the USA) character. I think this pulls it off well enough.

Robot Mode: In robot mode they did not even attempt to make him look like Boss. Head sculpt is really nice, and the colors are right, but he does not have the top of his car as his chest. It’s a great looking robot mode, but if you’re looking for G1 accuracy, it’s just not there. His gun looks great.

Overall: If you want a really nice reimaging of G1 Boss, this is a great toy. If you want a super accurate one, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
