Optimus Primal

Beast Mode: Transmetal Mega Class Optimus Primal was one of the great toys of the Beast Wars era. He looks great in beast mode. Unlike the USA version that had his name on his chest, the Takara version says “Cybertron”.

Vehicle Mode: I would argue that Optimus Primal does not have a vehicle mode. He has a flight mode for his beast mode, but whatever. He rides a surfboard. I guess they could have called him the Simian Surfer. (See what I did there?)

Robot Mode: In robot mode Optimus Primal is just awesome. Great paint apps, lots of great molded detail, and an excellent head sculpt.

Overall: Optimus Primal is awesome. I have all three chrome paint versions (blue, purple, and pink) of the original USA toy and as of the last time I put my eyes on them, unlike some other toys, their paint was still intact, but if yours aren’t, the Takara version is a great option.
