Transformers: Authentics Bravo Class Wave 7 (Bumblebee, Grimlock, Megatron, Optimus Prime)

A whole wave of new Authentics molds. I can barely contain my excitement.

Bumblebee

Bumblebee looks fine in both modes. Car mode is fine, though unsurprisingly light on paint apps on the back half of the vehicle. Robot mode is fine. It’s not a bad toy at all, just average.

Grimlock

I love the head sculpt on his dino head, and he has a lot of molded detail. If not for the big open void on his back he’d look pretty good, but he’s still fine. (Sensing a pattern?) In robot mode he is also fine.

Megatron

I like the design of Megatron’s tank mode, but his front treads look like they are on the wrong sides. The back of the tread looks like it should be the front, but this is as it’s designed. They also don’t lock into place, which I hate. Looks okay otherwise. In robot mode he’s…you guess it…fine!

Optimus Prime

I don’t mean to shock you, but Optimus Prime’s vehicle mode is better than fine. I wouldn’t call it good, I don’t want to go crazy, but he definitely looks very cool. Of course, that off sets his robot mode which looks like dog shit. I mean, it’ absolutely crap. His head sculpt is actually pretty good, but it’s put on top of a tower of garbage, so yeah. I don’t need a lot of articulation in a toy, but he has no elbows. Admittedly, elbows aren’t always a must, but in this case, it would make his suck less.

Overall: I’d say the wave is average for Authentics. Nothing awful, but nothing stellar. For completists only.
