Toy Reviews: Transformers: Age of Extinction Legends Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Starscream
These are the same Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Starscream Legends that were released on red Generations cards and were sold in discount stores last year (I think it was last year, might have been 2012). They have been repacked on Age of Extinction style cards. There are a few differences between the two versions though.
First off, the backs of the cards show the Reveal the Shield logo, yet none of the toys actually have rub signs. The Generations carded ones did not have the Reveal the Shield logo ( as far as I know). So, the question is, will we see corrected versions of the toys later?
Hasbro’s Law: That which is simple will be screwed up. (Kind of like Murphy’s law, but easily preventable.)
Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime’s red paint is slightly lighter than the Generations version, but it’s very slight. What’s most obvious is that he has the remolded port on the top of the truck to hold his sword, but he does not come with the sword. When the Generations Legends Motormaster was done, the mold was altered so that he would have a sword and place to put it. The last version of Optimus Prime used that mold. Here, they’ve used it again, but failed to include the sword. It is idiotic to use a mold redesigned for a weapon without including the weapon.
Bumblebee
Bumblebee has also had a change, but it’s for the better. The previous version had his Autobot log on his right vehicle door. They have moved it to his roof/chest and used lighter red paint, which looks much better.
Starscream
Like Optimus Prime, Starscream still has the holes in his wings for the weapons that were added when they made Generations Thundercracker. He of course does not include the weapons. I just don’t understand how things like this can happen.
I realize that these are just discount store repacks, and are not necessarily indicative of the rest of the Age of Extinction line, but still. It would have been so easy to do these right, but Hasbro’s Law strikes.
Thanks for reading!
