Transformers Rescue Rescan Series Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Heatwave
It’s been a while, but we finally have new Rescue Bots toys. The Rescan series features the existing characters in all new vehicle modes. They are smaller than the original toys, about the size of generations deluxe toys. They are fairly light. The plastic doesn’t seem to be the best quality, but the molds are really great, nicely detailed and painted. All feature a one step transformation.
Optimus Prime
I wasn’t crazy about Optimus Prime’s monster truck mode when the pictures first showed up, but it’s grown on me. I wish they had painted the bars that connect his arms black so that it would look better in robot mode. Also, I know they would never give this toy full smokestacks, but it would have been nice to give him little short ones, even if only a quarter inch above the cab roof. To Transform him, you just fold his arms onto his chest and the rest is automatic. He has a pretty good head sculpt.
Bumblebee
Bumblebee is nice, but probably the weakest of the three toys. I understand why they gave the motorcycle double wheels, so that you don’t have to plug two wheel halves into each other, but it just doesn’t look right. Also, I would have preferred he have his Autobot logo on the vehicle like Optimus and Heatwave. His transformation is just to fold his arms over his head, and the rest is automatic. I’ve never been crazy about Bumblebee’s head sculpt on the Rescue Bots toys, but this one looks decent enough.
Heatwave
Heatwave is absolutely the best of the three. His boat mode is awesome. I love the water cannons. The silver paint looks really nice in robot mode, and I love the fire helmet head sculpt. They painted his cannons on his wrists in robot mode. Too bad they aren’t moveable, but at least he has them. He is transformed by pushing or pulling his light bar forward and back.
I don’t think we’ve seen pictures of Wave 2 yet, but I can’t wait to see what new modes Blades, Chase, and Boulder get. It will be interesting to see if their knew modes appear in the cartoon, and if they do, how they will handle it.
Thanks for reading!
