Transformers Constructbots Elites Wheeljack and Soundwave

First announced at Toy Fair 2013, Transformers Constructbots is Hasbro’s answer to Lego Hero Factory as they continue to try and get into Lego’s market categories.  When I first heard about these, I assumed they would be sold under the Kre-O name.  This seemed logical.  However, as they are not being sold under the Kre-O name, I can only assume this is due to the poor sales of Kre-O (as evidenced by Walmart and Target barely stocking Kre-O toys anymore) and Hasbro wanting to make sure that stores at least order the initial waves of these before the line fails completely as I expect it will.

Having said that, I am encouraged by these toys.  While the Triple Changers had a fairly significant flaw (the need to build the robots in two different ways) these Elites do not this problem.

Wheeljack

I really like Wheeljack.  His car mode looks pretty decent, but I’m not crazy about the green “wings”.  They really would have looked better in white leaving just his weapons green  (though I think the weapons would have looked better in blue).  His head sculpt looks more like Prime than G1, but I still like it.  I wish the parts that clip onto his forearms were white instead of black.

Soundwave

Soundwave’s instructions are completely messed up.  Many of his parts appear in the wrong colors.  The instructions in the entire line thus far has been a mess, especially with weapons and the logo shield being left off instructions completely.  As to the toy, I kind of like the jet.  Not as crazy about the robot.  The hips, shoulder, and forearm parts should have been blue.  He would look loads better that way.
