Transformers: Prime Beast Hunters Legion 2013 Wave 1 (Smokescreen, Twinstrike, Airachnid, Bumblebee)
In an unexpected and welcome move, Hasbro has gone away from the cheap soft plastic translucent weapons for the Legion toys. They are now hard plastic. Hooray!
Smokescreen
Vehicle Mode: Smokescreen’s vehicle mode is great. Especially nice is the paint details on his doors. They could have certainly gone with simpler apps there. Really nice.
Robot Mode: He might be one of my favorite Legion toys. His robot mode looks great. They really did a nice job on him.
Twinstrike
Vehicle Mode: If it’s not obvious, Twinstrike is an homage to G1 Terrorcon Sinnertwin. He is the first member of a Beast Hunters Abominus combiner. He has nice paint apps and a lot of detail in the molding.
Robot Mode: He’s got a great head sculpt, and I like the use of his heads for arms. I really can’t wait to see the entire team combined. It’s interesting that they are not in a single wave as Hasbro has done with other recent combiners. While it’s probably unlikely, I must admit to being a bit worried that we’ll never see the whole team at retail.
Airachnid
Vehicle Mode: Well, it’s better than the deluxe one, but that’s a really low bar to set, and it’s not better by much.
Robot Mode: See my comment on her vehicle mode. I have nothing else to add.
Bumblebee
Vehicle Mode: Bumblebee is not as detailed (obviously) as the deluxe version, but he looks pretty good.
Robot Mode: I really like the cannons on his shoulders. Another nice Bumblebee.
Overall: This is a pretty good wave. In some ways, it’s overall the best first wave of Beast Hunters in any class. That’s kind of depressing actually.
